EU: The European digital COVID certificate is extended for 1 year

by

In addition, the EU agreed on the possibility of issuing a certificate of recovery after an antigen test, but also for those participating in clinical trials.

EU Member States and the European Parliament reached a political agreement on Monday extension of the regulation as for the European digital certificate for COVID.

The regulation will be extended by one year, until June 30, 2023. The extension of the regulation will ensure that EU travelers as well as those from third countries connected to the system can continue to use the European COVID certificate for intra-EU travel in Member States where these travel certificates are required – although many countries have already stopped asking for it. If the epidemiological situation allows, the regulation can be repealed earlier.

In addition to the extension, the following were also agreed:

The European Commission is obliged to submit a detailed report by 31 December 2022. The report could be accompanied by legislative proposals to allow a reassessment of the need to maintain or revoke the certificate, depending on developments;

– vaccination certificates must reflect all doses administeredregardless of the Member State where the vaccination was given;

– there will be a possibility issuance of a certificate of recovery after examination of antigens;

– I will extend the range of approved antigen tests used to qualify for certificates;

Vaccination certificates may be issued to those participating in clinical tests.
