Navalny’s chief of staff Leonid Volkov said in a statement that the politician’s lawyer had been delayed from entering the prison and later told that such a prisoner did not exist in the prison.
THE imprisoned Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny has been transferred from the prisoner colony, where he was being held, to an unknown location, his top associate said today.
“We do not know where Alexei is now, and to what colony of detainees he has been transferred,” said Navalny’s chief of staff Leonid Volkov in a statement posted on the Telegram messaging app.
Volkov clarified that the politician’s lawyer was delayed in entering the prison and then told that there was no such detainee in the prison.
Later, another lawyer, Olga Mikhailova, told Novayagazeta.europe, told TASS that Navalny was transferred to a strict penitentiary after the verdict came into force, convicting him of fraud and contempt of court.
“Today Navalny’s lawyer in Pakrov was told that Navalny was no longer being held there and was transferred to a colony of strict detainees, but which ones we were not told,” Mikhailova said.
Navalny himself had recently stated that in the colony of strict regime in Melechovo they are preparing for him “a prison within a prison”.
