Ukrainians’ resistance to Azot plant prevents Russian forces from deploying elsewhere, London says

by

According to the British Ministry of Defense, some Russian forces will remain in the area of the plant for as long as Ukrainian fighters can live inside it.

London, Thanasis Gavos

The British Ministry of Defense reports in a recent update on developments in Ukraine how after more than a month of heavy fighting Russian forces now control most of Sieverodonetsk.

To do this, they have been noted extensive collateral losses throughout the city, as the Russians have relied on heavy artillery use.

It is further noted that elements of the Ukrainian armed forces, along with several hundred civilians, have been fortified in underground shelters at the Nitrogen Chemical Plantin the Siverdonetsk industrial zone.

The British ministry estimates that some Russian forces will remain in and around the plant while Ukrainian fighters can survive underground. “This will probably prevent Russia from assigning new tasks to these units for missions elsewhere.”emphasizes the ministry.

The final assessment made by London is that in all probability the Russians “did not expect such strong resistance or such a slow conflict”during the initial planning of the invasion.
