The Commission gave London two months to respond to the legal action. After two months the two sides will be taken to court

The British government has expressed frustration with the EU’s decision to reopen legal proceedings against London following the submission of a bill to the House of Commons to unilaterally amend the Brexit Protocol for Northern Ireland.
A government spokesman in London said it was “disappointing that the EU has chosen to reopen legal pardon-related legal proceedings which are vital to stop the problems caused by the protocol from getting worse”.
The spokesman added that the British government’s preference remains a negotiated solution, but that the Commission’s proposals are the same as those discussed for months and do not solve the problems. “In many cases we are going backwards in relation to existing arrangements,” he added.
The Commission gave London two months to respond to the legal action concerning the “illegal” move to unilaterally amend the protocol, ie an international agreement. After two months the two sides will be taken to court.
