The woman, who was strapped to a gurney for a mental health check, managed to pull out the gun hidden under her dress and toss it into the hospital emergency room.

Glender Johnson-Jackson, 65, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of causing business instability and transferred to HCA Healthcare Conroe, Texas for evaluation, reported ABC13.

According to police, Johnson Jackson had Paul’s limbs bound in the hospital hallway, but he was still able to reach the small-caliber weapon hidden under his clothing.

He fired two bullets before rescuers seized the gun.

“One of the HCECEMS personnel immediately took action and disarmed (Johnson-Jackson),” the Conroe Police Station said.

Conroe Police Chief Jeff Christie praised the ambulance workers.

“His actions probably saved an innocent life,” says Christie.

Police initially responded to reports of active shooters at 504 Medical Center Hospital after 11:45 pm When police arrived, the location was already under guard.

According to Montgomery County jail records, Johnson-Jackson was charged with fatal behavior and felony criminal mischief in a prohibited area.

He was released from the hospital and put in a national prison.

A statement from the hospital said it was aware of the incident.

“I am not hurt,” a hospital official said. “We are ready for quality care and the safety of patients and colleagues.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is leading an investigation into how Johnson was admitted to the hospital after being arrested for concealing a gun. The Office of the Inspector General has launched an investigation into the behavior of staff in the first phone call.
