A former Miss Brazil has died at the age of 27 from massive bleeding and a heart attack after a standard tonsillectomy.
The queen of beauty Gleycy Correiawhich was crowned Miss Brazil in 2018died at a private clinic on Monday.
Correia, from Macae in southeastern Brazil, suffered heavy bleeding and a heart attack after her tonsillectomy, which involves tonsillectomy. He remained in a coma for two months after suffering a heart attack in April.
“She had surgery to remove her tonsils and after five days at home, she was bleeding,” said family priest Lidiane Alves Oliviera.
“He had a heart attack on April 4 and has been in a coma since then, with no neurological activity. “He died today,” he added.
Her body was sent to the Macae Forensic Institute for an autopsy.
Pastor Jak Abreu, who knows Correia’s family, wrote on social media that her relatives believe there was a medical error during the operation.
He added: “God chose this day to gather our princess. “We know she will miss him a lot, but now she will light up the sky with her smile.”
Correia’s funeral will take place on Tuesday at 11.30 local time.
