The government plans to introduce new legislation that would make it possible to override court decisions like the one on the first flight to Rwanda.

The minister was outraged when the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) intervened and suspended the deportation of refugees to Central Africa.

A British court dismissed the lawyer’s attempt to prevent the plane from taking off, but the Strasbourg court ruled an 11-hour procedure and suspended the entire plan.

Justice Minister Dominic Raab has confirmed that the government will not abandon the European Convention on Human Rights which is being considered in court, and will instead come up with a “British Bill of Rights”.

The new law, enacted as a successor to the Human Rights Act, argues that British courts do not necessarily have to comply with the ECHR ruling, and that the London High Court is the final decision maker.

By law, just as the interim Strasbourg decision does not bind Whitehall, the law prevents courts from blocking government decisions in certain circumstances.

“We are staying,” Rab, a longtime critic of the ECHR, told Sky News, but “it is legal to withdraw” from his decision.

He told LBC Radio that the new law would restore “common sense” and that “nobody in this country talks about human rights abuses.”

“We support the Treaties of the European Union and intend to strengthen the Treaties of the European Union, centered on British rights such as freedom of expression.

“But when it comes to public protection, people want to see how much common sense and balance our reforms achieve.”

The government’s controversial policy of illegally sending people into the country for “prosecution” confounded the court’s ruling last week.

Despite successful lawsuits, the Home Office plans to send more than 4,000 miles of charter aircraft, reducing the passenger list from 130 to seven.

The Justice Ministry also argues that the new Bill of Rights will make it easier to release militants from jail and improve press freedom.

But the Labor Party warned of the government’s intention to limit the court’s ability to impose “positive obligations”.

Shadow Attorney General Steve Reed said:
