On Friday, the US House of Representatives passed the most important gun control bill in decades and referred it to President Joe Biden, who is expected to sign the bill into law.

The bill passed the House 234-193 with 14 Republicans voting for all Democrats to support the bill.

It was shocking that bipartisan gun control emerged in Buffalo, New York and Wallis, Texas after the recent mass shootings and soon entered Congress. The bill passed the Senate 65-33 votes Thursday night after 15 Republicans withdrew from the party.

The law strengthens background checks for people under the age of 21 trying to buy guns and requires authorities to check children’s records, including mental health records from the age of 16.

It will also provide the state with a grant to improve the Red Flag Law, allowing weapons to be seized for those who deem it too dangerous. It also fills the “boyfriend void” of guns for single couples who are convicted of violence.

Many Republicans in the House opposed Friday’s action, but 12 moderate members backed the bill.

California Democratic Party Chairwoman Nancy Pelosi praised the “strong bipartisan vote.”

Republican Rep. Tony Gonzalez, who gave his whereabouts last month when gunmen killed 19 children and two elementary school teachers, voiced his support for the event ahead of the vote.

Some Republicans who opposed the bill felt it was infringing on rights under Article 2 of the Constitutional Amendment, said House Minority Whipscalis, a Republican from Louisiana.

After calling on lawmakers to take action after two recent shootings, Biden was excited for Congress to pass the bill.

“I’m pleased that Congress has come a long way to do something — pass bipartisan laws that help protect Americans,” he said.

The President continues: “This law makes our children safer in schools and communities. I urge Congress to complete the job and bring this bill to my table.

A sweeping bipartisan law ruled that the US Supreme Court struck down New York’s law restricting guns in public, ultimately challenging Article 2 of the Constitutional Amendment to the right to carry firearms outside the home.

The 6-3 decision adopted a broader interpretation of Article 2 of the Constitutional Amendment, which protects the right of Americans to arm themselves. This decision complicates state restrictions on carrying firearms outside the home.
