A man was found guilty of killing his albino brother to sell his body parts as good luck charms.
The 22-year-old Macdonald Masumbuka was murdered by his brother and four other men in Malawi in 2018.
The Supreme Court of Malawi today, Wednesday 29 June, sentenced the specific accused to life imprisonment with forced labor. Catholic priest Thomas Muhosha, a botanist, a police officer and two other men were also convicted.

Alphism, albinism or leukopathy is a condition that occurs congenitally and has as its main consequence the white color on the skin, hair, hair and whole body. People with albinism have thin skin that is very vulnerable to infections as well as severe vision problems.
Masumbuka was reported missing in February 2018. Investigators found the victim’s torso and head a month later, but his arms and legs had been removed. He had been dragged to a certain area by his brother, who had told him that a woman had been found for him to marry.
The director of the Malawi prosecutor’s office said: “MacDonald was betrayed by those he trusted, namely his brother, the priest and the policeman».
