Few passengers forget the British rail turmoil sparked by the June 2022 train strike.

Within three days, 40,000 employees of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) unions walked out of Network Rail wages and working conditions due to the dispute.

This is the biggest train strike in a generation in the UK and employees have the right to strike over issues such as wages and unemployment as part of a well organized union.

Many wonder if there will be a strike this summer and in the second half of 2022. Not only railway workers, but also postal workers, airline workers and even criminal lawyers.

The industries and latest updates that have been or may have been on strike this year are:

What industry can go on strike in 2022?

What’s going on ?? The Croydon tram train drivers set out at the end of June, along with the Association of Locomotive Engineers and the Association of Fire Fighters (ASLEF).

A British strike is imminent and could affect travel to London, Stansted airport, Essex and Norwich.

Meanwhile, negotiations are underway with the RMT Union to resolve the dispute that led to the June 2022 rail strike, which will affect Network Rail and many operators in the UK.

And workers from the Transport Salaried Staff Association (TSSA) union are now voting on whether to continue more industrial activity this summer.

date: June 28 and 29 (London trams), July 2 (UK) and probably late July or early August.

Is there a strike on the card? Not actually.

What’s going on? The latest Tube strike took place on Tuesday 21 June and other Transport for London (TfL) services were affected by the National Railways strike.

At the time of writing, TSSA, TfL’s largest association, had no plans or details for further action. More details about future actions and their impact on users can be found on the TfL website.

Is there a strike on the card? Yes.

What’s going on? Airline staff are on strike across the UK and Europe.

In the UK, British Airways staff at London Heathrow, along with the Unite and GMB unions, voted in over 90% of strikes.

Approximately 700 employees working at the check-in counter and on the ground will be out this summer in a particular dispute over a 10% reduction during a pandemic.

A Unite spokesman said: “The problems facing British Airways are entirely rooted in that. Although the government paid them to save their jobs, it severely curtailed their jobs during the pandemic. I paid.

“When this dispute arose, they insulted the workforce and reduced managers’ salaries by only 10%, but not their members’ salaries.

EasyJet cabin crew will go on strike in Spain for several days in July if the pay dispute is not resolved, the Union Sindical Obrera (USO) has said, but this is not a British strike.

Meanwhile, Ryanair staff toured Spain and Portugal in late June and planned strikes in Belgium, France and Spain, Italy.

The airline told Reuters at the time: “Less than 2% of Ryanair’s 9000 flights [on June 24, 25 and 26] They were hit by a small shot poorly supported by the crew.

date: In the case of TBC British Airways, it will probably be July. In Spain, easyJet strikes are from July 1 to 3, from July 15 to 17, from July 29 to 31. Ryanair will strike in Spain from June 30 to July 2.

Bus (Yorkshire and London)

Is there a strike on the card? This is already happening “on the table” in Yorkshire and London.

What’s going on? Employees of the Yorkshire-based Arriva, part of the Unite union, have been on strike for four weeks, reports Yorkshire Live.

The strike began on June 6 and affected Leeds, Wakefield, Huddersfield, Bradford and more. As of June 15, Arriva had raised wages and demanded an end to the strike, but Unite said the proposal was low at current inflation levels.

The strikes continue and the negotiations continue.

In London on June 16, Unite said it could put 800 jobs at risk due to reduced route supply, so it hired some 20,000 London bus workers and paid for security.

Sharon Graham, Executive Secretary of United, said: The options for Unite to take industrial action to protect its members are well considered.

“Stopping the bus always hurts our poorest community, the least likely to lose bus service. The Mayor and the London Assembly must categorically reject the TfL project and confront the government in Westminster. It won’t.

postal worker

Is there a strike on the card? Yes, it will happen soon.

What’s going on? In July, as many as 1,500 postal workers went on strike, leaving 114 post offices in 24 hours due to a pay dispute.

Members of the Correspondence Workers Union (CWU) said the proposal to increase wages by 2% was a “significant reduction in actual wage conditions”, taking into account previous wage freezes and inflation, supporting 97, 3% of the stock.

The CWU Deputy General Secretary said:

“There is a lot of money for a reasonable salary increase. It is management’s choice and it is not necessary to implement this salary cut.”

You can perform more actions. As of June 29, 115,000 Royal Post and CWU employees had voted to strike. Results will not be determined for a few weeks.

Is there a strike on the card? Yes, that happens now.

What’s going on? Hundreds of criminal lawyers are on strike over working conditions and funding for legal aid.

Some 81.5% of the 2,000 members of the Criminal Bar Association (CBA), which represents lawyers in England and Wales, confirmed the decision to take action, including a four-week, 14-day strike.

Some criminal courts in England and Wales operate limited services, delaying or delaying criminal and other proceedings.

CBA Lieutenant Governor Kirsty Brimello said of the dispute:

“We have repeatedly appealed to the government, but our warnings are still being ignored. They have no way to save the criminal justice system. This is a national crisis caused by the government and a state of emergency. It must be resolved as a situation.

“When we know the reality of the broken courts and the junior lawyers who left long before this process, we cannot allow any more attacks on our profession.

date: On Mondays and Tuesdays, every Sunday in July increases by one day, followed by a five-day strike from July 18 to 22.

Is there a strike on the card? not now.

What’s going on? At the time of this writing, teacher strikes were neither planned nor voted on.

However, on June 20, the General Secretary of the National Union for Education (NEU) sent a letter to Secretary of Education Nadim Zahavi requesting an increase in the “inflation bonus” of teachers’ salaries.

They write that the proposed 3% increase was not enough due to lower salaries, increasing “unsustainable” workloads, and an “annoying” shortage of new teachers.

They write: “Even before the effects of recent inflation, we estimate that teacher salaries have actually fallen by a factor of five since 2010.

“In addition to the decrease in teachers’ compensation due to inflation, it has also decreased from a relative perspective in terms of income. Average teacher salaries are at the lowest level in the economy compared to the average income for 40 years.

He added that the NEU would vote for a strike if the salary offer was not met.

Is there a strike on the card? Not now, but it seems to be expected.

What’s going on? At the time of writing, it appears that the NHS strike was not planned.

However, some may be getting closer as the British Medical Association (BMA) Medical Association is pushing for a “wage value recovery in 2008”.

Dr. Runswick added: “A union that can get paid 30% is a union that can get it all. If we do nothing, the salary will be cut in half, the doctor will be financially disadvantaged and depressed.

Doctors also discussed his “right to rest” and the timing of his dismissal at the BMA’s annual meeting.

In Scotland, the Royal College of Nurses of Scotland recently called on its members to reject a 5% wage increase, stating that higher wages are needed given the workload of nurses and the cost of living crisis. ..
