London Pride will return to the capital this weekend and more than 1.5 million people will attend the event. The event is still open after a two-year hiatus.

Saturday’s parade was held in commemoration of the first UK Pride Parade, organized by members of the Gay Liberation Front (GLF) and held on July 1, 1972.

The parade, which kicks off in the afternoon on a Hyde Park corner, promises to focus on “LGBTQ+ visibility, unity and equality.”

More than 30,000 people and up to 600 community groups are expected to attend the parade, with more people expected to take to the streets to attend the event.

Against the backdrop of an ongoing fight for anniversaries and equality, London’s Pride has released a short film on the history of the British movement, its success and current challenges.

The film “50 Seconds of Our Pride” is a “strong manifesto” that celebrates “social diversity, inclusion, resilience and strength.”

Created exclusively by LGBTQ+ people, this short film aims to convey a variety of community experiences.

At its core, Pride is a protest, and as well as celebrating London’s LGBTQ+ community, Pride is using this year’s event to call for action.

Volunteer-led organizations banned the UK government from conversion therapy for all LGBTQ+ people, reformed gender-aware laws, equally protected LGBTQ+ communities from hate crime, and created a hostile environment for immigrants.

The organization is also calling for the creation of a National AIDS Memorial to recognize the effects of HIV and AIDS on the LGBTQ+ community.

A spokesman for London Haven Thorn Pride said Saturday’s event will discuss both the success and history of the movement and its progress.

“Given the many challenges that threaten our human rights, it is especially important to connect our shared experiences and create space for our voices during the LGBTQIA+ united pride month,” he said.

“This year, our main focus is the visibility, unity and equality of LGBTQ+ people. We believe this is a fundamental human right.

“Pride creates a powerful experience that connects us in activism, protests, celebrations and advocacy.”

According to Haven, the pride of London is intended to be a safe haven and beacon of hope for stone, trance and BIPOC people around the world.

“Pride means inclusion and recognition that London Pride is more than just an annual celebration. Improve our community 365 days a year. All of us at LGBTQIA+ are proud. Love the truth, inspire us and empower us to live,” she added.

The London 2022 Parade will start proudly at noon on a Hyde Park corner, passing through Piccadilly and Piccadilly Circus before heading south towards the High Market.

From there it drives to Trafalgar Square around 6pm before ending up in Whitehall.

There are stages in Golden Square, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square Stage, Dean Street in Soho and Soho Square.

The St. Giles Church Courtyard has a dedicated family area for activities and performances for parents with children.
