At least 10 people, among them children, killed when Russian missile launches “strategic bomber” hits 9-storey apartment building in the region of Odessa, of the major port of southern Ukraine, announced today Friday a Ukrainian official. The new blow to a civilian area comes in the shadow of a Russian rocket that hit a shopping center in Kremenchuk, killing at least 18 people.
“The death toll in the apartment building has risen to ten,” Sergiy Bratsuk, a spokesman for Odessa regional authorities, told Telegram. The missile, he added, was fired by a Russian “strategic bomber” flying over the Black Sea.
According to Mr Bratsuk, the rocket struck “Nine-storey apartment building in the Bilgorod-Dniester region “, about 80 km south of Odessa.
Rescue teams initially spoke of six dead and seven injured, before raising the death toll to ten. Among the victims are at least three children.
Mr. Bratsuk clarified that the children were injured. He added that another rocket hit a resort, injuring several people. It is impossible for this information to be verified independently.
