The precious carrier pigeon made it to the other side of the world after trying to get home.

Racing Pigeon’s Bob went off the road on his way back from Guernsey to Tyneside.

The trip was supposed to last 10 hours, but it disappeared on the way.

Fortunately, Bobby turned up a few weeks later, 4,000 miles away in Alabama.

Bob traveled three weeks ago on a 400-mile (644 km) route from Guernsey in the Channel Islands to Gateshead. This will take 10 hours. But instead of returning to Tyneside, the four-year-old found herself in her native Alabama. Owner Alan Todd believed that Bob had turned in the wrong direction and boarded a ship that crossed the Atlantic Ocean.

The old man who found him said he wasn’t going to leave, so he called the Monroe County Animal Shelter.

Staff used a hair band and microchip to find owner Alain on his way back to Gateshead, England.

After the rescue, the precious pigeon was a little lighter and had oil marks on the wings, but was otherwise completely healthy.

A spokesperson for the charity said of the rescue: Your food will definitely be eaten. “

Alabama staff only knew where Bob came from because of his band and his microchip (Image: Monroe County Animal Shelter in Alabama/SWNS).

“He had a pigeon with a band at his house in Mexia.

“The pigeon did not go away, it decided to ask for help.

The team, Monica Lee Morris, brought the man home and was able to safely catch a beautiful bird.

Returning to the shelter, Monica and another crew member, Megan Brian, set out to locate the owner.

“They were able to extract the group number, but they were also able to use a microchip scanner to trace a website called the North of England Homing Union.

“The women followed the instructions and immediately contacted the owner, 4,000 miles away in the North East of England!

“We are currently working on a game plan to return this champion pigeon to its owner. The owner was very happy with us.

Bob’s owner, Alain, describes him as a very “special” bird.

But now he is faced with the prospect of returning Bobby to Britain. The UK is expected to cost between £2,500 and £3,000.

But the price doesn’t matter to Alain at all. Alain said he would do anything to bring the prized animal back to Britain.

The precious Bob pigeon is believed to be worth £1,000.

Alain believes that Bob may have landed on a ship that crossed the Atlantic before flying to Alabama.

Bobby was still in Alabama, but after being rescued by a webcam, he was reunited with his owner, Alain.

This prompted Alain to travel to the United States to rescue Bob and bring him home.

Alain explained the emotional reason why he met Bob.

It was donated by Alain’s best friend who later died for the charity raffle he was holding to raise money for the Marie Curie charity.

His sister Gillian died of the disease in 2018 and the fundraiser raised £5,500.

Alain said: ‘I’m going to get it back somehow.

“This is a special pigeon.”

He said he feared the worst when Bobby didn’t come back from the Northeast race.

“Something went wrong,” he said.

Every time a pigeon disappears, you worry about what happened.

“Sometimes they die.

It was very strange when I received the email that was found.

“At first I thought it was Ireland, but then I realized it was the United States. I can’t believe it.”

“Maybe it got caught in a thunderstorm on the other side of the channel and found its way to a boat going in the opposite direction.”
