Scotland Yard has withdrawn its investigation into allegations of sexual harassment against former SNP MP Patrick Grady, saying “no further action can be taken”.

The detective said he made the decision after discussing it with the alleged victim.

The former boss resigned after police began investigating a 19-year-old worker at an East London pub in 2016.

According to congressional oversight reports, Mr. Grady was alone with staff when he had sexual desire under the influence of alcohol and thought he was “welcome.”

The guards added that he touched the teen’s neck, hair and back, but “stopped” when “it became clear his actions were not welcome.”

He told the House of Commons “deeply sorry” after it was revealed that Mr Grady had misbehaved.

A Met spokesperson said:

“Police officers conducted an investigation, including a conversation with the alleged victim.

Critics blamed SNP’s response to sexual harassment claims (Image: PA)

“At this point, there is no further police action.”

Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon stressed that the party’s case was mishandled because the victims felt unsupported.

Critics have called on Ian Blackford, the leader of SNP Westminster, to step down from handling the case.

In the leaked video, Blackford was heard telling the MP to gather around Mr Grady, saying he was looking forward to “Patrick’s return”.

As a result, Scottish Conservative President Craig Hoy accused SNP leaders of “treating ordinary MPs more sympathetically than victims of sexual harassment”.

“The leader should be ashamed of how he handled this scandal,” he added.

Alex Cole-Hamilton, leader of the Scottish Liberal Democratic Party, said:

“He gave victim Patrick Grady his full support, allowed the SNP whip to intimidate and resorted to intimidation.”
