Europol: Major operation for traffickers – 130 arrests in Europe

The joint operation took place in 22 countries – Frontex carried out checks on one million people and 200,000 vehicles

Police forces across Europe have arrested approx 130 people suspected for engaging in human trafficking, with a joint enterprise carried out by 22 countriesthe international police organization announced today Europol.

The police actions, which took place during the week until June 13also led to the identification of more than 100 potential victims of human trafficking, Europol announced.

During the operation, which was coordinated by the European Border Guard Agency Frontexnearly 1 million people and 200,000 vehicles were checked at sea, land and air borders, mainly on heavily used routes to Europe.

Fifteen EU countries participated in the operations, alongside the Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Ukraine, Britain and Liechtenstein. About 22,500 members of law enforcement took part.
