Johnson: Wedding ceremony at Prime Minister’s cottage in late July

by

The invitations were sent before the developments in Britain and his forced resignation from the prime ministership – He wanted to celebrate his marriage to Carrie

The Prime Minister of Britain Boris Johnsonwho announced earlier today that he was stepping down as the leader of the Conservative party, intended to hold a reception in late July to celebrate his wedding to wife Carrie at Checkers, the prime minister’s country home, according to several British media outlets.

The invitations had already been sent out before the resignation was announced for Johnson, who married in secret in May 2021 in a small ceremony at Westminster Cathedral. They attended the wedding only 30 persons, because at that time there were health restrictions to deal with the pandemic. That is why the reception was postponed until this summer.

The 58-year-old Johnson, who resigned after the successive scandals and the departure of dozens of ministers and deputy ministers of his government, intends, despite the criticism, to remain in Downing Street until his successor is elected.

“We’d all like to have a grand wedding at taxpayers’ expense in Checkersbut he won’t be able to do that because the British people will find it disgusting,” London’s Labor mayor Sadiq Khan told LBC radio. “Sane” Conservatives “will not accept a situation where he seeks to remain prime minister for his personal interest instead of the national one,” he added.

This marriage is the third for Boris Johnson, who has had at least seven children, two of which with Carrie Simmons. He had already been criticized for the expensive renovation of his Downing Street flat, which was funded by a Conservative party donor.
