The last abortion clinic in Mississippi, called the Pink House by patients and supporters, closed its doors after the process began and the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
“Today is a difficult day for all of us, Mississippi’s last abortion provider.” On twitter Wednesday afternoon, Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

The Casa Rosada challenged Mississippi’s 2018 law that bans most abortions after 15 weeks’ gestation. The clinic operated on women up to 16 weeks gestation, but an earlier Supreme Court ruling allowed abortion with a fetal survival rate of about 24 weeks.
On June 24, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in Mississippi’s favor in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a Casa Rosada objection to the state’s abortion law.
Mississippi’s “Trigger Law,” passed in 2007, took effect 10 days after the Supreme Court struck down the law, banning abortions after Wednesday and punishing violations with up to 10 years in prison.
While the opposition bill was pending, the Jackson Women’s Health Organization filed a proceeding seeking a temporary block of the bill. However, the judge dismissed the petition on Tuesday, saying that delaying the abortion ban “would clearly harm the state and its citizens by negating the public interest in enforcing the law.”
After the Supreme Court ruling, Casa Rosada owner Diane Delgis said she had no regrets about filing a proceeding that overturned abortion case law for nearly 50 years.
“We had no choice,” said Delgis, who lives in Alabama and owns abortion clinics in Georgia and Virginia. And if it were not this proceeding, it would be something else.
Within days of the decision, Pink House doctors scrambled to see as many patients as possible before closing.
According to the Associated Press video, the clinic stopped offering procedures Wednesday, but Pro Choice and Pro Life groups met outside the Casa Rosada on Thursday.
On the day Roe was replaced, Derzis promised that the clinic’s staff would continue their mission, “that is our soul, what we are doing, and abortion.”
“The pink house is a beautiful building, but it’s just a building,” Delgis said at the time.
“Pink Houses: There are pink houses all over the country.”
