Regarding the course of the pandemic, the president of the Panhellenic Medical Association underlined that there is a great deal of positivity, which is recorded only to a degree, as those who are diagnosed only by self-test are not counted in the daily cases.
The need to vaccinate those over 60 with the fourth dose emphasized the president of the Panhellenic Medical Association, Athanasios Hexadaktylos on SKAI and the show “SK Parea”.
“Those over 60 who have not had a fourth dose at this time are unvaccinated. In order to have the benefits of the vaccine, i.e. milder disease and less chance of facing the inevitable, they must do the 4th dose. They are the ones who are most at risk and need to strengthen their defenses“, he said characteristically.
As for those under 60 years of age, Mr. Exadaktylos pointed out that they should consult their doctor, who after taking their history, will give them a personalized advice.
In fact, he added that those who have been ill in the last six months, can postpone their vaccination with a fourth dose.

In this context, he explained that the self-test must be confirmed with one of the laboratory tests, either rapid or PCR, as in case it becomes necessary to take antiviral drugs, the doctor can only administer them if the disease is recorded. “If the disease is recorded five days later, the useful time of taking these drugs may have passed,” he said.
