Police have launched an investigation into his death.
One bet with a reward of 200 Rand (equivalent to £10) cost the life of a man, aged 25 to 30, in South Africa.
The man to win the bet that he had put a wine cellar in Mashamba village in Limpopo drank an entire bottle of Jaegermeister in just two minutes. This particular drink has 35% alcohol
The man after drinking the bottle collapsed and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Now the police have started investigation into his death.
Footage shared online shows people cheering and clapping as he “downs” the drink.
After he finished, he was seen dazed and leaning on a friend.
Limpopo Police spokesperson Brig Motlafela Mojapelo said: “Police have launched an investigation following an incident of apparent alcohol abuse that took place at one of the local liquor outlets in Mashamba where patrons were allegedly involved in a drinking competition. The winner who could consume the entire bottle of Jägermeister within a specified time would receive R200 cash. One of them collapsed soon after and was taken to the local clinic where he was pronounced dead.”
