The taxi driver stabbed her at the front door after CCTV was caught harassing his ex-wife.

Mohammed Alfan tracked down Malena Shabani from her workplace in Bodesley Green, Birmingham, before launching a deadly attack on January 28.

The orphan wore an Afro wig and disguised himself, stabbed Malena in the chest 20 times, then abandoned the wig and murder weapons and fled the scene.

Police were notified minutes after the attack, but the 41-year-old man was seriously injured and died at the scene.

Less than 30 minutes after the mother of four was killed, Alfan was seen laughing and joking with friends at a hair salon.

CCTV, now released by West Midlands Police, shows Alfan harassing Malena and driving her to work several times in the weeks before the murder.

He drove a taxi more than 10 times, then stopped and chased after the store.

Chilling footage captured the killer waiting for Malena to finish her work and watching her leave and go home.

He then waited for her to go home before launching into a fit of ‘madness’.

Alfan was also caught on camera tossing what appears to be a murder weapon into a bottle before unearthing the car and sweater he wore during the attack.

Alfan then returned to the crime scene and saw the police surrounding Malena’s body.

When police found her car, they had blood on the door handle, inside a hammer, and a wig box.

Alfan, 42, from Ward End initially denied killing Malena, claiming he had not seen or spoken to her for over a year.

However, yesterday he was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter at Birmingham Crown Court and sentenced to life in prison for a minimum of 22 years.

Prosecutor Peter Greaves-Smith QC said:

I couldn’t talk to her on the phone because she blocked it. But he followed her on social media and at her home and office.

“Mr. Shabani felt that she was being followed, and when she tried to rebuild her life, she was very concerned about the actions of the accused.

Lawyer Phil Bradley said Alfan had never been convicted before and was always working, but had no roots in Britain.

He told him Alfan’s last words before the sentencing trial, and the defendant said:

More importantly, I killed a woman I had loved for many years.

“If I could bring her back and offer myself on her behalf, I would be happy to do so, but instead I have the horrible reality of being responsible for her death.”

Following the ruling, Malena’s mother said: “The social, emotional and psychological consequences of Malena’s tragic death were devastating.

“Losing a child is devastating, and parents are not thinking about making their children live longer.

“Malena was a devoted mother of four with an infectious smile who put children first and loved and loved them.

“The devastation their children are experiencing is indescribable.”
