A woman kidnapped by two crocodiles has been found dead on the southern coast of the United States.

An elderly victim died in a Florida swimming pool at a golf course Friday night, according to local officials.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said an unidentified woman was seen falling into a lake in Inglewood and struggling to float.

Later, a pair of reptiles were captured, authorities said.

Two crocodiles were later removed from the scene, but it is unclear if they attacked the woman.

Crocodile attacks are relatively rare, but the incident follows at least two similar incidents in the United States in the past month.

One victim was killed in a gate community in South Carolina, and a man looking for a Frisbee in an alligator pond in Florida was found dismantled.

According to local media, a woman involved in the latest attack lived nearby and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident reportedly occurred at the Boca Royal Golf and Country Club.

The organization’s website describes the area as a 1,000-acre gated community that includes homes, lakes, golf courses and nature preserves.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission states that the alligator becomes more active as temperatures rise.

The exact cause of death of a woman is still unknown.
