“Vacations can kill you” once said the richest man on earth, Elon Musk.

It is well known that he is a workaholic.

According to what he has said from time to time in his interviews, he sleeps about 6 hours a day and many times he even had to sleep on the floor at the Tesla factory, since during the most difficult periods of his car industry he worked 100 hours a week.

In 2015 he said in a television interview that in a period of more than ten years he had only taken leave twice. In both cases, it turned out sour..he ran into problems.

“In the last 12 years, I’ve tried to get a week’s leave twice. The first time I was away for a week, the Orbital Sciences rocket blew up and Richard Branson’s rocket blew up in the same week,” he confessed.

Orbital Sciences Corporation’s unmanned rocket blew up in 2014 seconds after launch, supposed to carry supplies to the International Space Station. It wasn’t his rocket Maskbut it was a sign of things to come.

“The second time I took a week off, my own rocket blew up,” added Musk. “The lesson here is ‘don’t take a week off.'”

But even before that, when in September 2000 Musk tried to go on a honeymoon with his first wife, Justine, things didn’t turn out well.

At the time he was CEO of X.com (the company that eventually became PayPal) and the company’s management was unhappy with his leadership.

While Musk was on the plane with his wife, executives delivered a letter to the board ousting him as CEO, replacing him with Peter Thiel.

When he arrived in Sydney, where he would spend his honeymoon, he simply got back on the plane and returned to Palo Alto, California.

But his most traumatic holiday experience came when he and Justine tried to go on their honeymoon again in December of the same year.

This time, Musk planned a two-week trip to Brazil and South Africa.

But while in South Africa, he contracted malaria. After two misdiagnoses at hospitals, Musk nearly died before doctors finally addressed his health problem at age five.

“This is my lesson because I went on vacation. Vacations can kill you,” he has said.

Apparently, lately he has changed his mind. At the end of May, he was photographed in St. Tropez with his partner, actress Natasha Bassett.

And since yesterday, he is in Mykonos, as can be seen from the movements of his private plane.
