Oleh Sinekhubov, governor of the Kharkiv region, said three people were killed in Kharkiv today — the teenager, a man and a woman
A 13-year-old boy was killed by a Russian missile strike while waiting for the bus near a mosque in Kharkiv, eastern Ukraine today, according to local officials.
In a Reuters photo, the boy’s father can be seen on his knees holding the hand of his dead son, whose covered body was lying on the road near the damaged bus stop.
Rescue crews carried another body on a stretcher. The nearby mosque was heavily damaged.
Oleh Sinekhubov, governor of the Kharkiv region, said three people were killed in Kharkiv today — the teenager, a man and a woman — but it was unclear whether all three died at the bus stop. He said that the teenager’s 15-year-old sister was also injured, but did not give their names.
“It’s another terrible act of terror by the Russians,” Sinekhubov wrote in a Telegram post.
In a separate post on Telegram, the local prosecutor’s office said it believed the rockets came from a multiple launch missile system.
