Italy: Draghi resigns – No confidence vote

by

His decision is due to the fact that the Five Stars, as well as the center-right (Forza Italia and Lega) will not take part in the process of the vote of confidence, which has just started in the Senate of Rome.

The latest developments clearly show that the Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi will return, tonight, to the presidential palace Kyrinalio, to confirm his resignation.

His decision, as reported by the Italian media, is due to the fact that the Five Stars, as well as the center-right (Forza Italia and Lega) will not take part in the process of vote of confidencewhich has just begun in the Senate of Rome.

Which means that even the minimum required number (50% of senators plus one) may not be secured for this vote to be considered valid.

The Italian technocrat prime minister will, as it seems, consider this development as lack of trust and respect in his person and is expected to go to the presidential palace to finalize his resignation, with a new meeting with president Mattarella.
