The court heard that the court farmed his 4×4 into a group of children outside of the primary school after the two mothers accidentally stepped on the accelerator.

Dolly Rincon Aguilar, 39, walked down the sidewalk just after 3:00 pm on September 8, 2020, picked up a tree and collided with the school gate.

A witness said a woman trapped under the car had her face “white and frozen” and was yelling “Get out of the car.”

Witnesses said there was “confusion and panic” outside Beatrix Potter Primary School in Earlsfield, southwest London, when the Toyota Rav4 crashed.

“There was a very large metal grinding and I immediately felt dangerous,” one of the parents said.

A child who had his back to the car was thrown into the air and a 6-year-old boy was trapped in the 20 mph zone under the car.

Meanwhile, Rincon Aguilar, who lives in Wandsworth, south-west London, “froze in a chair” and “didn’t answer the door”, the court said.

The defendant, who was picking up the children at the time, pleaded not guilty to eight counts of serious injury from dangerous driving.

In police body camera video shown to the jury, Rincon Aguilar said she was “in a panic” when she saw him crash into a car while walking outside.

He states: When I put my foot on the gas and tried to stop, the car suddenly went very fast.

Holding back tears, Rincón Aguilar said. I stopped and tried to look back… I think I just panicked. I heard a screeching sound and tried to apply the parking brake.

The jury heard how a mother, who was talking to her other parents, discovered that her leg was trapped under a car and her son was seriously injured.

Another parent said he tried to run away with the children but found it “too late.”

He said in a statement: “I was unconscious so I don’t remember exactly what happened.

“But I remember feeling trapped under the car and suffocating, I couldn’t move and I couldn’t breathe. I tried to free myself, but felt my legs burn.

Her two children were taken away and all were taken to hospital. The nanny, who was picking up her two children, said she thought “this is it” as the car pulled up.

Reading his witness statement, prosecutor Nathan Rasia said: I asked him, “Where are the children?”

When her son was brought to school to treat an injury, she explained the burning in her legs and the pain in her ribs and shoulders.

The two mothers said they saw a girl under the car after a shock before the car was “eerily quiet”.

His statement read: “I remember someone saying, ‘I have to move the car,’ so I asked the woman in the driver’s seat to turn off the engine. She froze in her chair and couldn’t open the door…

A mother with two daughters saw a child with a bleeding head, but another mother said the child apparently had a “serious injury” to his leg.

The school’s assistant principal, Sharon Glide-Smith, initially thought the loud noise was a gunshot.

“The car went up and attacked some people. I saw a child on the floor,” she said.

Smith also saw a boy whose lower arm was covered in blood and said “everyone tried to help people on earth.”

Another teacher said he heard “screams of horror” from women and children. Eleven people were treated at the scene, including seven children.

Four adults and five children were taken to the hospital and two children were discharged. Both victims had facial and skull fractures. One needed immediate treatment to get rid of the blood clot.

Some children suffered “serious” fractures to their legs, arms and eyes.

The jury viewed body camera footage of Rincón Aguilar being interviewed by police at the scene.

Forensic PC crash investigator Sean Wakeman was unable to find any technical faults with the green 4×4.

“The collision situation was consistent with unintentional acceleration caused by accidentally pressing the accelerator pedal,” he said.

The investigator added: “He applied the parking brake, which could be due to panic or the inexperienced driver.

Rincón-Aguilar admits that the incident occurred and injured people, but does not admit that his driving was dangerous. The trial will continue.
