In his statements from Belgrade, the Prime Minister of Spain assured Serbia that his country “was and will be by its side, in defense of its principles, while it will always support the dialogue between the two sides”.
The Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, expressed his country’s undivided support to Serbia on the issue of Kosovo. During his meeting in Belgrade with the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, Pedro Sanchez pointed out that “the ties of friendship between Spain and Serbia are based on the common position on the need to respect international law and the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the two countries” .
The Spanish prime minister assured that Madrid is not going to revise its stance on Kosovo. “We support Serbia on the issue of Kosovo. Spain has been and will always be on Serbia’s side in defense of the principles and will always support dialogue between the two sides,” Sanchez stressed.
The Prime Minister of Spain started today from Belgrade a four-day tour of the Western Balkans during which he will also visit Sarajevo, Podgorica, Skopje and Tirana. Pristina is not included in Sanchez’s stops and this is because Spain avoids any relationship with Kosovo, since it does not accept its secession from Serbia and does not recognize its independence.
The Spanish Prime Minister announced from Belgrade that the purpose of his tour is to encourage the European integration of the Western Balkans and to assure the people of the countries of the region that Europe has not forgotten them.
