The Duke of Cambridge seemed delighted that the Lions had brought glory to England after 56 long struggles.
After making history by lifting the Euro 2022 trophy, Prince William gave his players a big hug.
The future king watched the match from Wembley Stadium, bringing his team’s fortune along with his football-loving daughter, Princess Charlotte.
A spectacular performance on Sunday night saw England claim their first major tournament title since 1966 and the first major trophy for a women’s team.
The Lions took a 2-1 lead at the final whistle, wowed the crowd and were crowned European champions.
Millions of other fans attended from homes and bars, with many gathering outside the stadium to watch the action up close.
The first two thirds of the match were tight and the second half was goalless.
However, the Lions won on the first goal from Ella Tune, who came on as a substitute, prompting the crowd to chant ‘Tune’.
However, their lead did not last long as Germany leveled, leaving the score at 1-1.
With the match still tied at the end of the 90th minute, the match went into extra time and the possibility of a penalty shootout became a reality, until Chloe Kelly scored in the 110th minute.
Germany’s captain and star player Alexandra Popp was ruled out with injury before the match started, but it wasn’t easy for the Lions.
Earlier today, Princess Charlotte told the Lions, “I hope they win,” in heartbreaking footage.
In a recorded message, the Duke of Cambridge said:
“You did very well in this competition. We support you all the time.”
Charlotte, who took a photo with her father in the garden, added: “Good luck. I hope you win.”
He smiled at the camera, then shook hands and waved goodbye.
The young Royal has previously spoken about how much he enjoys playing football, telling his father to send the message to the Lions that he is “really good at scoring goals”.
He was not with his father in tonight’s finale, where Duke was photographed without his son or Kate.
William and Kate’s official Twitter account reposted a photo of the crowd heading into the stadium with the caption, “Come on @Lioness, good luck #WEURO2022.”
Meanwhile, Boris Johnson shared a photo of himself watching the match on television with his daughter Roman and son Wilfred.
In a photo he posted on Twitter, Johnson turns away from the camera, holding a glass of rum as Wilfred stands by his side.
Alongside the photo, she wrote: Come to England!
Perhaps the highlight was the thousands of girls who were thrilled to see the team make history.
One image shows a woman and girl outside Wembley Stadium wearing face-painted football shirts, pride flags and personalized signs.
Dozens of ticketless fans watched the game on their mobile phones outside the stadium and wanted to see the game up close.
Craig Stevens, 58, from Twickenham, south west London, and his wife Julie, 54, said:
“We are very excited and wish England well, but we know that Germany have been dangerous opponents in the past.
