The Sierra Leonean-flagged cargo ship Razoni, which left Odessa in southern Ukraine on Monday morning with 26,000 tons of corn bound for Lebanon, is expected to spend the night off the coast of Turkey and will be inspected tomorrow on morning by an international team at the entrance to the Bosphorus, the Turkish Ministry of Defense clarified.

This is the first export allowed under the agreement signed on July 22 in Istanbul between Ukraine and Russia, brokered by Turkey and under the auspices of the United Nations, in order to lift the blockade of Ukrainian ports and have relief in agricultural markets.

According to the AFP photographer and cameraman on the beach, the 186-meter-long ship arrived off the coast shortly before 19:00 local time (and Greek time).

According to the Ministry of Defense, the ship was expected “at the entrance of the Bosphorus around 21:00”.

The inspection, requested by Moscow which wants to ascertain the nature of the cargo, will be carried out by a delegation consisting of representatives of Turkey, Ukraine, Russia and the UN. Afterwards, the Razoni will continue its course, Turkish Admiral Ozkan Altunbulak, head of the Joint Coordination Center overseeing the operations, told reporters.
