Taiwan’s foreign ministry denied the reports from Chinese state television
Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense announced that at least 20 Chinese Air Force fighter jets entered the so-called Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) after the arrival of the speaker of the US House of Representatives. Nancy Pelosiwhich has sparked tension in Beijing’s relations with the Washington.
“21 Chinese military aircraft (…) entered the ADIZ (Air Defense Identification Zone) over the southwest Taiwanon August 2, 2022,” Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense said in a post on Twitter.
Earlier, Taiwan’s foreign ministry had dismissed as “false” Chinese media reports that fighter jets Su-35 they flew over the sea area that separates the island from mainland China.
The Chinese armed forces have been put on high alert and will launch “targeted military operations” in response to Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, China’s defense ministry announced today.
