Actor Alec Baldwin has confirmed that he “did not pull the trigger” on the gun used to kill cinematographer Halina Hutchins during the filming of Rust, a western starring and producing it.
“The trigger was not pressed… I did not press the trigger”, the actor says in the excerpts of an interview he gave to George Stefanopoulos, which will be broadcast tomorrow, Thursday, on the American network ABC.
In this interview, the first official one he gave after Hutchins’s death on October 21, Baldwin states that he “has no idea” how a real bullet was found on the set of the film. “I would never point a gun at anyone and I would not pull the trigger. “Never,” he insisted.
This revolver was supposed to contain fake bullets. When asked how the real bullet was found in the mill, Baldwin replied: “I have no idea. Someone put a real bullet in a gun. A sphere that should not even be there. “
Authorities are investigating and, although no arrests have been made, criminal prosecution is not ruled out if those responsible are found, the Santa Fe prosecutor’s office in New Mexico said.
