The Turkish president said that the repair work will start as soon as possible.
He expressed his great sadness for the fire at the Greek Hospital of Balouklis Recep Tayyip Erdogan according to a statement from the Directorate of Communications of the Turkish presidency.
Noting that he has been following the developments related to the fire closely since the beginning, President Erdogan said there was no loss of life or injury, and the extinguishing of the fire brought some relief to the hearts of citizens.
“President Erdogan, who received information about the condition of the hospital, patients and staff, said that the repair work will start as soon as possible.”
According to the announcement, Tayyip Erdogan also assigned the Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca to carry out the necessary studies for the restoration of the Hellenic Hospital.

The cause of the fire in the hospital of Balouklis in Istanbul remains unknown, President Erdogan’s spokesman Ibrahim Kalin told the Turkish media.
“Our president intervened on the matter. The interior ministry and the governor’s office brought the fire under control. The restoration work will start immediately,” assured the Turkish official.

Kalin stated that almost 80 patients of Balouklis were transferred to other hospitals.
The mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglou, rushed to the scene and stated that the fire started from the roof in the northern part. “The fact that it was old wood accelerated the fire in the roof section,” he added.
“Our Istanbul Fire Service quickly responded to the fire at the Greek Hospital of Baloucles, the fire is now under control. It is pleasing that there were no casualties or injuries. Together we will build this historic hospital back on his feet” Imamoglu pointed out in his latest tweet.
For his part, Istanbul prefect Ali Gerlikaya stated that there were no injuries. “There are no injuries or loss of life. We don’t know the cause of the fire,” he said, adding that he expects the Fire Department to determine the cause of the fire, while committing to repairing the damage to the building.
