Archie Battersby’s mother is ready to give her son a face-to-face meeting if he is taken off life support.
His family faces a terrifying wait to find out if the courts will step in and allow the 12-year-old to be transferred to hospice for palliative care.
Legal efforts to prevent him from being taken off life support have failed, and efforts are now focused on allowing him to die “with dignity” outside a hospital.
However, the doctor in charge of his treatment goes against his family’s wishes and says that it is too dangerous to move him.
A judge continues to consider the latest efforts by relatives who want him to have access to oxygen outside the hospital that could extend his life expectancy.
A spokesman for the Christian Legal Center, which works with the family, told The Sun that he was prepared to do whatever it took to save his son’s life.
Holly said in a statement: “If Archie loses oxygen, if he is taken off life support, I will keep him on oxygen.
“I hope the Supreme Court does the right thing. If they refuse to put him in a hospice and give him palliative oxygen, it’s just inhumane and what is Archie’s dignity?” There is no relationship between them.
“The whole system is against us.
“Charlie’s Law needs to be revised now so parents don’t have to go through this.
“We will fight to the end for Archie’s right to life.”
On Wednesday, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) rejected a request by the boy’s parents to delay the boy’s change of treatment.
He was due to be released at 11am on Thursday, but the High Court launched a bid to remove him from the Royal London Hospital.
Heartbroken mother Holly Dance vowed to “fight to the end for Archie’s right to live” and expressed her wish to “spend his last moments” in private with his family.
Archie has been in a coma since he was found unresponsive at his home in Southend, Essex, on April 7.
He is being kept alive at Whitechapel Hospital in east London with a combination of medical interventions including ventilators and medication.
Ms. Dance believes she was participating in an online challenge when she fell ill.
