The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, accompanied by the Metropolitan of Ioannina Maximos, visited yesterday, Friday, August 5, the Nursing Home of Balouklis, which suffered great damage from the fire, and then the inmates of the Nursing Home, to whom he expressed his loving interest and support of the Church and of the community as a whole.

It is noted that the inmates of the Nursing Home were transferred immediately after their rescue and at the initiative of the competent state authorities to the public hospital “Prof. Dr. Murat Dilmemer”, which was created during the pandemic in the premises of the old airport of the city.

During his stay, His Holiness especially thanked the director, as well as the medical and nursing staff of the hospital for the warm hospitality and care of the people.

He also once again expressed his emotion for the immediate interest and mobilization of the state and self-governing authorities, all the employees of the Nursing Home and the Balouklis Hospital, as well as the executives of the fire brigade and the volunteers who rushed to rescue the food. and their relocation, as well as for their contribution to the fight to extinguish the fire.

In fact, he thanked everyone, especially the President of the Turkish Republic, Recep Tayyip Erdoganand all the Authorities and individuals, who from the first moment expressed their will and interest in the restoration of the damages in Roman Nursing Homeso that it will soon be able to continue its centuries-long multidimensional social contribution.

Earlier, the Ecumenical Patriarch received at Fanari a multi-member delegation of experts from the Metropolitan Municipality of the City, who, following the mayor’s order, Ekrem Imamoglouwere placed at the disposal of the Patriarchate, in order to assist in every way in the reconstruction of the building of the historical institution and its re-operation as soon as possible.
