Top military leaders of the Islamic Jihad group in Gaza have been “neutralized” over the past two days during Israeli military raids against the Palestinian group, according to the operation’s chief.

“The senior leadership of the military wing of Islamic Jihad in Gaza has been neutralized,” Oded Basiok, chief of operations of the Israeli army (IDF), told AFP.

As the Times of Israel website reports, on Saturday night Khalid Mansour was killed in an airstrike in Rafah. He was allegedly the commander of Islamic Jihad in the southern part of the Gaza Strip. Officially, the Palestinian organization has not yet confirmed his death.

It is recalled that Taysir Jabari, the alleged head of Islamic Jihad in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, had died on Friday.

The previous week, the Israeli army had arrested a leading figure of the Palestinian organization in the West Bank.

At least 24 Palestinians, including six children, have been killed and another 203 injured during Israeli attacks in the past 48 hours, according to Gaza’s health ministry.

In contrast, Palestinian militants fired more than 400 rockets at Israel – most of which were intercepted – triggering air raid sirens and forcing many residents to run for shelter. There were no reports of casualties from Israeli authorities.
