President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) said this Thursday (2) that he had accepted an invitation from Vladimir Putin to travel to Russia in 2022. “Invitation is accepted, I am very happy, very honored. It opens a window of opportunity,” said Bolsonaro during broadcast on social media.
The president said that he has not yet defined which ministers should accompany the delegation and that the trip will take place in February or March. “It is a large consumer market. We are going to deepen this relationship with Russia,” he said. The president also mentioned the importance of business with China.
“Let’s get ready to make this visit an opportunity to leverage our economy.”
According to information from the Russian state agency Tass, Putin invited Bolsonaro on Wednesday (1) for a visit and said that Brazil is one of Russia’s “most important strategic partners”.
Bolsonaro has not yet made official trips to the country. The Russian president, in turn, was in Brazil in 2019, for a meeting of the Brics, a bloc formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
