The confirmed 24 victims of the coronavirus in the United Kingdom have reached 217 in the last 24 hours.

It is the fourth day in the last ten with more than 200 deaths. Overall in the last week the deaths from Covid have increased by 13%.

The 24-hour cases remained at high levels, specifically at 41,299. However, on a rolling seven-day basis, cases have dropped by almost 10%.

Coronavirus carriers continue to rise, approaching 10,000. Specifically, they have reached 9,538, of which 1,024 are intubated.

The first dose of the vaccine has been given to just over 50 million people in the UK over the age of 12, or 87.1% of them.

More than 45.7 million citizens are protected even with the second dose, ie 79.6% of 12 years and over.

The third installment has been granted to 8.6 million beneficiaries, ie 15% of the population over 12.

Meanwhile, the British government is expected to announce on Thursday that it is making it mandatory to vaccinate workers in the NHS national health system. The measure will take effect from April 2022.

Earlier, Deputy Chief of Staff for England Jonathan Van Tam warned that “some very difficult months are coming in the winter” on the coronavirus front, adding that too many people mistakenly believe that the pandemic is over.
