Venice Mayor Luigi Brugnaro on Wednesday called the two tourists who were captured on video maneuvering their electric surfboards between boats and gondolas “stupid”. In fact, he offered a restaurant dinner to anyone who could identify them.
The Venice police soon tracked them down and, after tracking them down, fined each of them 1,500 euros, while confiscating the electric surfboards (worth around 25,000 euros).
“Thank you all for your help,” the mayor of Venice wrote in a message on Twitter, adding that the city government intended to sue the tourists and inform their countries’ consulates about their behavior.
