The Russian ambassador to the USA Anatoly Antonov argued on Thursday that the US is so “stuck” with sanctions that they don’t see that they have failed to bring the Russian economy to its knees.
“Stuck by sanctions, Washington cannot see that its strategy of choice has failed,” it said. “It is obvious that attempts to strangle, destroy our economy have failed,” insisted the Russian ambassador to the US
“All the US has achieved is a destabilization of it global economy which was already struggling amid the effects of the pandemic,” the diplomat said. “Sanctions backfire on the minds of the sanctions lunatics,” he said.
“Routine business ties have fallen victim to US sanctions policy,” he said.
“Another effect of Washington’s chaotic accumulation of pointless sanctions is that they cause huge cost to businesses and to ordinary citizens. Financial institutions and international companies, intimidated by US regulators, are wary of conducting routine business. The government has reached the point of trying to explain to companies that there are exceptions to the sanctions, specifically in the food sector, and that is not working,” he said.
