After a thriller lasting about 30 hours, “the security forces have now ended the siege and the gunmen are dead. We haven’t had any fire from the building in the last hour,” a Somali official told AFP on condition of anonymity. He added that the government will hold a press conference on this bloody attack on Sunday morning.
According to unconfirmed information, the dead are about 40. Earlier, the Reuters agency, citing a former official of the intelligence services of Somalia, had reported that there were at least 12 dead.
