Ukraine Independence Day Google Doodle

by

Today’s anniversary of Ukraine’s independence is special as the country continues to resist the ongoing Russian invasion of its territory.

Google celebrates Ukraine’s independence day with today’s Doodle. The Doodle was created by artist Olga Stonda from Kyiv.

On this day in 1991, the Ukrainian parliament approved the Act of Declaration of Independence and the country’s flag was raised on the building, marking liberation from the Soviet Union. The national anniversary honors the memory of those who gave their lives for Ukraine and those who continue to fight to this day.

In a referendum held on December 1, 1991, 92% of Ukrainians approved the country’s independence.

“In the 31 years of freedom, important steps have been taken in the country in the fields of society, economy and politics. The country’s blue and yellow flag symbolizes Ukraine’s vast sky, beautiful streams and “golden” grain fields. These colors remind Ukrainians of the importance of freedom, courage, vitality and unity.”Google reports.
