The VC said the company’s proposal was a step in the right direction but did not satisfy the demands of the union, which was seeking a 5.5% hike for this year and automatic inflation-adjustment of salary for next year. The union is also calling for a single pay scale for all staff at Lufthansa’s subsidiaries, which include low-cost carrier Eurowings.
“Legal and organizational preparations for the strike mobilization have begun,” the VC said, clarifying however that it is open to talks.
Lufthansa has not commented so far.
