Deadly hail in Spain: 20-month-old baby dead from a blow to the head – See photos, videos

Tragedy in Spain, with a baby just 20 months old losing his life when a giant 10cm hailstone fell on his head. The incident happened yesterday Tuesday, in Catalonia in the Girona region.

The hailstorm, which caused serious injuries and property damage in the town of La Bizbal in Enporda, was the heaviest recorded in Catalonia in 20 years.

The baby was struck minutes after the hailstorm began. He was rushed to the hospital in Girona where, despite the efforts of the medical and nursing staff, he lost his battle for life today, Wednesday.

The fire department received more than 10 calls for damage to buildings and wiring, but also for the transport of injured people. The streets were littered with broken windows and dented vehicles.

28 people visited the hospital with bruises and bumps.
