Boris Johnson congratulated the Turkish President for the “valuable global leadership” that Turkey has shown.

Conversation with the President of Turkey Erdogan had in one of the last phone calls as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom o Boris Johnson on Friday afternoon.

According to Downing Street, the two leaders welcomed the growing bilateral trade relationship and expressed the hope that the free trade agreement they have signed will be expanded to build on the “economic momentum” that has developed between them.

They also discussed new opportunities to increase cooperation between the two countries in its fields defense technology and her nuclear energy.

Boris Johnson congratulated the Turkish President on the “valuable global leadership” that Turkey has shown, most recently helping to lift the Russian export ban on Ukrainian grain.

The British leader stressed the importance of continuing to support Ukraine against an unprovoked Russian invasion, including by maintaining strong sanctions against Russia.

Finally, the two leaders wished each other the best for the future and agreed that bilateral relations will continue to strengthen.
