New York: Mandatory vaccination for the labor sector announced the mayor

by

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio announced today that all private sector workers should be vaccinated against coronavirus starting December 27.

The mayor went further than President Joe Biden, whose vaccination measure, which was due to take effect on Jan. 4 but is currently suspended by a court order, only concerned employees of companies that employ more of 100 employees.

“Here in New York, we decided to launch a preemptive strike (against coronavirus) to do something really daring to stop the spread of Covid and the dangers it poses to all of us,” de Blasio told MSNBC.

He explained that the mandatory vaccination applies to all “private sector workers in New York from December 27”, ie almost 184,000 businesses, companies and shops.

In addition, from the same date, “New Yorkers 12 years of age and older will have to show the certificate that they have received three doses of the vaccine, according to the mayor, who will step down on December 31 to be replaced by Eric Adams elected on December 2nd.

The presence of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus has now been confirmed in at least 15 US states – with a few cases in New York State, the largest city in the United States that was particularly hard hit by the 2020 epidemic with at least 34,000 deaths.
