Charles III, the official name of Britain’s new king

The new monarch of Britain, known to this day as Prince Charleswill now be called “King Charles III”as announced today from his former official residence, Clarence House.

Charles, 73, automatically became king when his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died in the afternoon at the castle Balmoral, Scotland. At the same time, Charles’ wife – until now known as Camilla Duchess of Cornwall – she will share his social status as a “royal wife”.

Prince William, successor to his father, King Charles, will henceforth be called the Duke of Cornwall, in addition to the Duke of Cambridge, and accordingly, his wife Kate Middleton will also have the title of Duchess of Cornwall.

“The death of my dearly beloved mother, the Queen, is a moment of supreme sorrow for me,” said Britain’s King Charles III in his first remarks since Elizabeth II’s death.

“Her loss will be deeply felt across the country, the commonwealth and by countless people,” said Elizabeth II’s eldest son, who is in line to the British throne.

He added that both he and his family are relieved by the respect and affection his mother enjoyed throughout her reign.
