Charles III is officially proclaimed King of the United Kingdom today, following the death of 96-year-old Elizabeth on Thursday afternoon.

The Succession Council will meet in London at 12:00 (GMT) at St. James’s Palace and the proclamation will be read out publicly one hour later by the master of that residence.

The king will then take the oath. The Duke of Cornwall, the royal wife, Camilla, the Prime Minister, Liz Truss and the Cabinet will be in attendance.

The proclamation of Charles as king will be read tomorrow, Sunday, in all the provinces of the United Kingdom.

Earlier, King Charles granted the first audience to new Prime Minister Liz Truss at Buckingham Palace, after first shaking hands with many of the citizens gathered in front of the Palace.
