The mayor of Paris will ask the French state and private owners to take measures in the same direction for national and private monuments.

Night lighting will continue on the streets of the French capital for safety reasons.

Among the most imposing monuments of Paris, the City Hall (Hotel de Ville) was until today illuminated until 01.00, just like the Eiffel Tower, which will go out with the departure of the last visitor at 23.45, Ann Hidalgo confirmed.

As for the capital’s bridges, the end of decorative lighting may come if it is in line with the safety requirements of navigation on the river, explained Deputy Mayor of Ecological Transition Dan Lert.

The temperature in municipal buildings will be lowered by one degree during the day, from 19° to 18° Celsius, except in nursing homes and nurseries, and to 12° Celsius at night and at weekends, Al Hidalgo also announced.

The municipality of Paris will also postpone the start of heating “closer to winter” and on a daily basis the heating will start 30 minutes later.

The temperature of the swimming pools will be reduced by one degree, both inside the water and in the rest of the areas. Today, it is set at 26 degrees in the water and 27 in the atmosphere.

The aim of the cuts plan is to reduce by another 10% the energy consumption of the city, which corresponds to the energy consumption of 226 schools, the mayor of Paris explains.
