The royal casket receives a Royal Air Force salute and then departs by road for Buckingham Palace

He arrived at Buckingham Palace shortly after 10 pm Greek time, the body of Queen Elizabeth.

There she is greeted by the guard of the King’s Guard in the presence of King Charles III, his wife and other members of the royal family.

The coffin will be placed in Buckingham’s Bow Row room to allow palace staff to say their last goodbyes to the Queen.

Earlier, an RAF plane carrying the royal coffin left Edinburgh and landed at Northhold Airfield, west London.

The Royal Air Force plane that received the body was found at the airport of the queen and then will depart by road for Buckingham Palace.

Tomorrow at 7 pm, Greek time, the popular pilgrimage will begin which will be completed on Monday.

Crowds of people on the streets of London

At the same time in London, hundreds of thousands of Britons have camped out for the popular pilgrimage to the longest-reigning monarch in British history.

Organizers say the wait to see the royal casket can be as long 35 hours and they have given clear instructions on what they should wear and carry with them in order to pass through the checkpoints.

The authorities calculate how over a million people they will be on the streets of London on the day of the funeral, along the route where the funeral procession will pass – a turnout similar to Diana’s unprecedented world funeral.

Officials have warned that Westminster Hall, where the Queen’s body will be on display, has a capacity of around 350,000 people so it is very likely that the queue will be ‘cut’ before everyone can enter.
