At least 54 people have died and six others have been injured in floods caused by heavy rains in the past 24 hours in Pakistan, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said. The victims include 18 children and 10 women.

The statement also said that 4,453 houses were destroyed and 24,869 domestic animals were lost in the floods in various parts of the Pakistani territory.
The NDMA’s tally so far of Pakistan’s monsoon floods since mid-June is 1,481 deaths, 12,748 injuries, 1,755,281 houses damaged and 908,137 animals dead. Over half a million people (541,134) have been left homeless and crowded into temporary camps.
