Hundreds of people gathered outside the consulate on Monday night, watching Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.

A Hong Kong man who played the British national anthem on a harmonica for a crowd outside the British consulate during Queen Elizabeth’s funeral was arrested for standing, police and local media said today.

Hundreds of people gathered outside the consulate on Monday night, watching the ceremony on their cellphones, lighting candles and laying flowers.

The man began playing the harmonica, according to an AFP reporter, performing the British national anthem and “Glory to Hong Kong,” a song popular during pro-democracy protests three years ago.

Today, police said a 43-year-old man was arrested outside the consulate for “stop actions”.

Police confirmed to AFP that this was the man with the harmonica.

A famous Hong Kong actor and singer, Lo Kar-ying, 75, had to issue a public apology on Thursday after praising Elizabeth.

Thousands of Hong Kong residents queued outside the British consulate last week to sign a book of condolence for the queen, who died on September 8 after 70 years in power.
